A cookie is short piece of data which is sent from a server to the user's browser when it visits the server's site. When linked into an online retailer's profiling technology, the cookie complies a record of all the holidays or cinema tickets, for example, that you have bought, building data incrementally into a profile that reflects your unique tastes and spending power. such a consumer database is invaluable to the direct marketing industry
